great! thank you.
I have recently switched from windows and office to Mac and open office. It is hard to learn all the new shortcut and the workings of these new software. I needed to disable the spellcheck and finally found someone (you) to tell me how to do it. God bless.

Funnily enough, I came here after searching for a way to disable my spell-checker. In case future friends come here looking for same, here are the steps I finally took for OO version 2.2.1:
- open OO Base
- In the Tools Menu choose Options
- In the Language Settings choose Writing Aids
- Uncheck the Hunspell SpellChecker
- Uncheck "Check spelling as you type"
