In case future friends come here looking for same, here are the steps I finally took for OO version 2.2.1: - open OO Base - In the Tools Menu choose Options - In the Language Settings choose Writing Aids - Uncheck the Hunspell SpellChecker - Uncheck "Check spelling as you type" Funnily enough, I came here after searching for a way to disable my spell-checker.
