I have been facing issues with properly shutting down the machine from Ubuntu. Looks like it has shown its effects. My Gnome seems to be messed up and it would show the titlebars of the various applications.
Apparently, I am not running any window manager which is causing these issues. Luckily, the Gnome failsafe option has worked fine and i can work properly. I am currently waiting to get some suggestions from the Ubuntu forum people!
