ICICI Bank Sucks

There you have it. The ICICI Bank so totally sucks. They have made my life a living hell. My debit card is still missing. The head office claims to have sent it to my local branch. The local branch has no records of them receiving it.

The call center dude says that the system is down so he cannot take down my request. But he was pretty polite to tell me the way to close my account in case I was not satisfied.

And all this hassle for the card for which they have already deducted 120 bucks from my account. Bravo ICICI. You guys so totally suck.

i didn't recieve my ICICI debit card, after 20 days and ace express courier sucks god knows where these people are deleviring the card.. wondering why ICICI one of the india's largest bank using this shitty courier.

ICICI Bank Sucks! The process of updating the mobile number is tedious. Firstly the netbanking allows you to update it, its just that it never gets updated. Finally one realises that you got to go the bank to update it. I went to the bank and submitted an application form for mobile number change along with my identity proof last thursday and its still not updated. i dont know how many years it will take them to update my mobile number and how many times they expect me to visit the bank for updating my mobile number. I dont understand the meaning of CONVENIENCE BANKING anymore!

Hey Sushubh. Let me tell you a story...a long story.

I lost my ICICI Savings Bank Account Debit Card. Someone made a purchase of around Rs.15,000/- from it. I made a police complaint, but the police, being police, slept over it and was useless. Anyways, cut out the police angle here because the story is about ICICI.

Within 1 hours I intimated the loss and wrongful transaction to ICICI over telephone. Within 24 hours, I made a written complaint to the branch office, requesting them to block the transfer / refund the money. ICICI proclaims its zero liability insurance, wherein, if you make a written complaint within 30 days of the loss of the debit card, you have no liability for any purchases made during those 30 days. But the Bank officials forgot all about it. I received an SMS stating that since VISA had approved the transaction, the amount could not be refunded.

1 year passed, numerous emails, phone calls...finally a legal notice...no response. So I started drafting a consumer complaint. I wanted a copy of the FIR made on my complaint to the police. But the police was least interested in being of any assistance (I even have a sneaking suspicion that they had some arrangement with ICICI: they deny me an FIR and ICICI denies me a refund for lack of FIR.

Be that as it may. I made an RTI application inquiring about the status of the complaint against the relevant DD No. (police diary entry no. which is given when someone makes a Complaint).

Lo and behold...I receive a call from someone (can't reveal who it was since I gave my word ). This guy pleads with me to drop the RTi since the police had LOST my complaint and was on the verge of disciplinary action. He offered to pay me the amount from his own pocket. I told him that I was not in the business of extortion, and, if he was such a big-shot, he should make the Bank refund me the money, and in return, I won't press the RTI.

Guess what? Within a week, the money was refunded.

ICICI, I'm outta here!

I don't know if this is correct place, however I would still post my issue since 'ICICI' plays

a role.

I applied for a Car (Chevrolet) Loan via ICICI. The loan amount was a mere 3.2L. I submitted

over 100 xerox copies of documents, my past 2.5 years of employment papers, this n that.

Where am I stuck? The person from ICICI (or the agency ICICI hires) went to the WRONG address

for my verification. Now, I'm single and I stay alone. Where I live, it has been over 2.5 years

and everyone knows me in the building for obvious reasons. The verification guy went to the

wrong address and marked my FI as negative. I re-requested it and this time he entered the

wrong address again! I assisted him in going to the correct address, and again he marked me as

negative! I verified from every neighbor in my building, all of them were away to work. And the

comments that this guy put in his notes everytime was
"The guy has left the building 2 days ago"

Now,
1) When first time, he entered the wrong place, how could he write "I left 2 days ago"? (even

if I did leave)!!
2) Howcome he wrote the same damn comment AGAIN when he entered the same address

My question to ICICI persons:
1) Are these persons your own? These so called uneducated and absolutely lunatic people
2) If not, then they are from some agency that you hire. What is your criteria for making a

contract with an agency for the verification process? Or do you have none at all?
3) On what basis, are these persons given information for verification?

or is this just some "layman's work" or some "jugaad" thing keeping which in mind does ICICI

hire/employ agency/persons for the verification process?

I have taken a leave today, in spite of urgent work, sitting back home like a stupid person,

and finding EVERY SITE on which I can tell people, what ICICI does!

No matter what comes to this country, the service is as bad as a road-side dhaba. And its

I agree the employees is getting big fat salary and are least bothered. I had terrible experience when I told the staff that I have deposited the cash please clear the cheque but asholes they are to make 250 bucks for thie kity they returned my cheque and worst they dont have ears to listen. Its worst Bank in India. The Goverment should stop or ban their commercials on TV showing how good they are.

Absolute truth about ICICI...dont know how it became so big with such poor customer services and sucked employees.....i met a customer service manager subrato(xxx) at borivali (mumbai) regarding closure of my loan account and he did not know the reason why my account is charged with extra interest....when i told him to give his explaination in writing....that fool says you will get only copy of your statement......
not getting clear explaination from anyone in the bank...and i cannot close my loan account even after paying entire loan amount.....:((
only i am happy that i could manage to convince 4-5 people not to take loan from icici...it would have been business of another 70-80 lacs for the bank....but they deserve this kinda treatment...

I agree, ICICI NRI services really sucks. I transferred money to my brothers account and it was rejected (and sent back to ICICI) by recipient bank due to account number mismatch. Guess what, ICICI is denying that money is back to them even after supplying them all the details from recipient bank. So my money is neither in my account nor in my brother's account. It has been more than a month chasing the customer service muppets but they are bunch of jokers with no banking knowledge. I still regret the day I decided to open NRI account with them. God knows if I will ever see my money back in my account.

If you can then avoid them at all costs. You have so many better options like Citibank, HSBC etc.

Bravo icici. real losers. keep losing customers. Can't improve the bloody standards.

Not sure about how other banks in India are... but this sucks big time. I had citi nri previously and was so disgusted that I made the move toICICI couple of years back and since then it's been nothing but nightmare revisited.
Their internet banking is the worst, cryptic userids and passwords that automatically expire without ability to retrieve them. Customer service tries to teach me how to use a computer. Asked them if I could talk to supervisor [ standard response is that supervisor is on leave today ]

No forum to to file complaints or make suggestions, I am afraid all Indian banks are almost the same.

It is patheic service. Now a days it just adding lot of other rules to make money. One of them is QAB. They increased the QAB from 5K to 10K without any info and deducted around 1k.. Thats how ICICI bank make money ... Ahhha Thats how they loot customers..

ICICI NRI banking sucks. It is very primitive. The account got inactivated because I did not use it for 15 months. I didnt even get a notification. Now. it took 24 hours for my account to get activated. Now my password does not work. I will have to snail mail a form to Mumbai head quarters to get my password reset. Another form to change address with copy of passport and utility bill.. CAUTION!!!!!! DON'T OPEN NRI ACCOUNT WITH ICICI. Choose HSBC instead.

ICICI bank is worst, they started a new approach to collect their credit card balances. They are directly deducting it from our Salary Accounts without informing.

I stopped paying the card in between due to the bank didnt provide any card statements from the day i took the card from ICICI. After a year they kept so much interest and deducted all the amount from my account.

It is totally useless bank.

u can sue them..do it man! they r supposed to send u a couple of notices b4 takin a final action..which in no case cud be deducting it from your salary!!

it seems that there is a conpiracy going on against the bank who taught nationalized bank custumer care . Few years earlier none indian bank were responsive enough and were lame and lathargic but with the advent of this bank psu banks knew the value of costumer and use of technology .I am very sure that icici bank will survive . it is you people who sucks ,all allegations are false ,hypotheticaly made.

I am very much agree with everyone comments. In my case I added mandatory holder to ICICI and submitted all the papers. I returned to US after that thinking that everything is alright but I realised that they lost all my documents. Fortunately, I had all copies but it didn't work. I had to redo all the procedure during my next visit to India. Tremendous Inconveniecy.

Above all, ICICI operated my account and cut the charges without informing me any policy change. The customer service is so rude and executives are immature young kids. They know nothing. I am closing my account in a week. That's it. No more relationship with ICICI.

I suggest that NO NRI should open account with ICICI. They are short of fraud. I am also filing complaint agains them to RBI in Bank Ombudsman. You should also do it.

ICICI bank is bad. I had a car loan from ICICI and was paying the EMI every month. Then I was posted abroad so decided to pay the loan off. They could not get all the documents together in time so I had to get my father to finalise the account. They took all the money plus the fine for paying off the loan early but have not provided with a clearence certificate. We have been trying to get one from last one year. When we started pressurising them as I wanted to sell the car, suddenly they sent me a letter that I need to pay Rs 3 lakhs more as charges plus EMI. I went in there with the receipt of from the ICICI bank which said "Full and final payment rerceived", they said that it was given by the previous officer and he doesnot work there any more. He confirmed that the receipt was original but I still needed to pay the amount before a clearence certificate could be issued. I am stuck.

Any idea how I can sell my car?

ICICI bank shitty services shitty bank. Dont open an ICICI bank account. They will spend millions on advertisement saying it is so easy to bank with them whereas it is really hell. Believe me you will be far off better with HDFC/SBI or other nationalized banking services. They are slow and bureaucratic, but you will expect and get that not like the unreliable services of ICICI bank.....again shitty bank shitty services. They don't even have a reliable courier services. Bet they have some verny educated courier service wallah who employs same kind and they dont know how to read the address. The Indian Postal Services is infinitely far better and cheaper, believe me, I have had a few occasions to use their services in recent days and they happen to be the best. ICICI bank really sucks. They have the most shittiest services available. They use the most weirdest and nonexistant courier services (who have as shitty services like ICICI bank). These courier servies that ICICI bank uses will coolly say that the customer address is not adequate/proper or the customer was not in house (when the whole customer family is living right at that address and recieves all their mails/courier packages from other banks/services) so that ICICI bank can deduct charges for rewiring your services. SUCKS! WORST BANK EVER! YOU ARE BEING WARNED! A short story for you about my experience (Canada),

1) I decide to take advantage of their high interest savings account
2) I sign up and submit $1.00 to open the account
3) I get a password for online banking in the mail
4) Online banking won't let me log in. I try again the next day because customer service tells me to.
5) Repeat #4 about 6 times over one week
6) After more than a week I decide to cancel my account
7) I'm told I have to pay $25 to cancel my account
8) LOL!!!!! thank god I only gave them $1.00....

and when I went to open a demat account with all documents...they did not accepted it saying they need some unwanted documents....

That's when I decided not to step into ICICI again..in a life time.I had to transfer all my accounts to another good and friendly bank.
I Paid my loan in one shot, letting ICICI know I'm not a begger.

that's when I helped dozen of my friends from getting into same situation. Its frustrating. people should complain all the issue on net and let RBI know on these issues.

Most of the people who work in frontline know nothing about banking process and policies...which surprises me.

Problem with ICICI Bank

My Saving A/c debit card expired in Oct 2006. I had send them letter cheque book, debit card etc to close my a/c in oct 2006 . This is what they say , Courier did't reach them ever....And now i am being charged for quarterly balance money to maintain my account.

Let me prove some points here

1) They say ICICI online secure email system is not reiable way to send cancellation request. How do i even trust that my online ICICI bank transaction is safe ??

2) Customer care calling is waste ? They will ask your every information a/c no , employer . brother , sister , pan card no, address and at the end that will ask you to visit their local bank.

I mean they should ask one secure info to varify your detials..Just like in USA banks ask your SSN.... Again this mode of communication with the bank is waste..

3) Again in this Global word , you can not visit your bank to deposit cheque each day.. Now Global Banking is all through Online... Weather you open account , do tranactions or wish to close account...

4) I wonder if a Local icici agent can come to my home/office to open account with ICICI why is it the same agent can't come to my house to close my account.... My point here is ... Service is a Service weather you open A/c or Close account... Why do bank harass you or regret that you are closing service with them.
