Perhaps God gave me this chance to reconsider

Ok. I have been going nuts over the Pulsar 200 I have been enjoying driving since the last couple of days. And I even have plans to get a performance oriented bike for myself.

But then Brian gave me the link to this video (I remember seeing this episode long time back on BBC). Jeremy Clarkson is quite frank on middle aged men’s desire to ride superbikes. Now, I am not yet there but I am pretty much on my way there.

I almost ended up having a pretty bad accident early morning today. No, I was not driving at high speed. No, I was not driving rash. No, I was not even trying to do a wheelie (though I want to). I was just driving at regular speeds on a pretty average road when I applied breaks… perhaps a bit too hard. And I guess the front wheel jammed. The bike lost its balance and we were practically dancing on the bike which was too eager to fall down taking us with it.

Luckily, we managed to get the bike in control without falling off. Maybe it was my taller body structure or the low center of gravity of the bike… We all ended up safe and sound.

Good thing we had no accident. Otherwise, mom would have totally banned me from riding a two wheeler ever in my life. But then few other people read this blog as well and I expect to hear some yelling.

One thing is clear. I do not plan to change my plans. Why so? Because I test rode Rahul’s Thunderbird just around 30 minutes after the above incident. And by god… that was an AWESOME experience. Maybe, I need to check out the 500 cc model from Enfield. That would be fun I guess. ;)

As that guy says in the Bajaj Avenger advertisement while driving the bike.

I feel like god.

I don’t. I just get a little bit closer to him when I am driving one.

Man, lots of observations. Will start with saying I love this music. Everytime its on TV, I leave everything & watch it in awe of the god-man streaking through memories & the fast lane. Love the ad (& the guy’s helmet in it)

Second off, like I said I didnt know there was a Pulsar 200. The power must be awesome. Congratulations on the new acquire & needless to say, have fun!

Lastly, I need to watch your blog more closely. Like the music inclusion & all. Good going!

Lastly lastly, you’ll see some more of me in the comment section. Hopefully, I can pick up tips that I can incorporate in my own. I’m too lazy to write regularly or methodically for that matter.

Nice day, King. See ya around.

I used to ride bike couple of years back. I Had Pulsar 180 and TVS Victor, I had good time with it until I met an accident.

This accident happened when I recently moved to New Delhi from my hometown Ludhiana. I was going through Delhi Cant and a speed breaker flipped my bike. I went rolling on the road around 12 ft away and then my bike suddenly came flying/flipping and fell on me.

The reason for the accident was this unauthorized speed breaker & poor Indian road. This speed breaker was at least 1.5 ft in height and it was constructed without authorization outside an military official’s home to kill people. Nearby people told me this speed breaker have caused many accidents in the past.

Luckily, my helmet saved my life. It was broken into two pieces, people gathered all around and they were amazed when I survived & stood up. I called my friends who came with in few minutes and rushed me to a nearest hospital.

Base Hospital was the only hospital in the few kilometers radius. This hospital was in Cant area…. so these military guys wasted my 45 crucial mins when I was bleeding and badly needed first aid. After wasting my more time… they simply refused to give me first aid and said that they will not entertain a Civilian. Their behavior towards this Civilian was pathetic, they did not even considered me a human being. This was another bad experience that I had with Indian military and I have now really started to hate these pathetic military guys.

I had to be on bed for 15 days and caused loss of health & business.
I bought a new car after this incident and stopped using a two wheeler. I love these hot cars and bikes don’t even stand near.

Cars offer speed, luxury, comfort, safety, power, ICE, music system, privacy, protection from Indian traffic & pollution.

Bikes put you in danger on these Indian roads which are full of pollution and dust.

    1.5 ft in height

    now… that is… like… very… high.

  8. Sushubh Says:

as for speed. they dont let us drive at sane speeds. 50kmph? my foot. :D

going from a car to a bike sounds like a stupid decision. but most of the decisions taken by me in my life have sounded pretty stupid.

and then i have my mom and my dad. who would never let me buy a bike.

so well… i have things to sort out first. :D

  9. Sushubh Says:

and please people let me live in my fantasy world. there are few things in my life that gets me all cheered up. :(

  10. Sushubh Says:

    18inches

    is this 1.5 feet?

  11. Ravish Says:

    Hey… try Drifting

Once you start to drift… You’ll be in love with it and never give a second look to bikes again.

You might like to see some videos at http://www.hincity.com/hintv/hintv.asp?sc=Car_Shows

This image in your comment kinda looks like 1.5 ft.

  12. Sushubh Says:

    umm…

ravish mate. enough nonsense about me and my fantasies. i really feel sorry for the way the army men treated you there. i have never had any contact with them and i believe they are cool people.

but then it’s a well known fact that some of them consider civilians as someone from the lower strata of life (umm does this make any sense).

i feel good that you are back alright and doing better than ever!

  13. Sushubh Says:

    drifting?

i have seen fast and the furious… i think i need to learn driving properly first. :D

  14. Abhishek Says:

Hmm. 500 cc Bullet? I am considering that one in the near future. Though, I love my 350 cc horse and would not trade for anything else for the time being. Not even for “free sex” :)

As for the performance oriented bikes, dude, I believe that you don’t have the roads to attain the full potential. Waste of money on them.

And then the Harley’s are coming…….

  15. Sushubh Says:

heh. let me get used to driving a puny pulsar 200 first ;)

  16. Ravish Says:

Nonsense about you and your fantasies?

When did I say anything offensive like that? I just shared an experience of mine. No issues if you are not interested to read it. Go ahead and delete my post.

Your so called army dudes are so cool to kidnap and rape women. Thats what they have been doing lately.

  17. Brian Fernandes Says:

    Ravish,

Dude, you misunderstood. Sushubh was being empathic, saying that HE (Sushubh) has written enough about HIS (Sushubh’s) fantasies, after reading about the terrible experience you had with the army. He was not implying that you said his fantasies were nonsense, he has done that himself, eh, Sushubh? :)

I must admit it sounded like you made it out to be though, until I read further. It’s all good.

Back to the subject, after 3 years of riding my RD 350 and having several near misses, I’m NOT gravitating to a bigger more powerful bike, a nice car would do. The bike is certainly a pleasure to ride (especially when you overtake rice boys), but then again our roads are horrific and nobody has an iota of road sense (at least here in Poona). 60-80kmph is enjoyable - though still quite dangerous, and that you can do on any bike; of course you can get there faster on a more powerful machine. After 80-90kmph, I think to myself, “THIS IS MADNESS” ;). If I had my RD when I was 18, I would probably…well, let’s not discuss that.

Stick to your car, or buy a better one maybe, the time for bikes has past - for me at least. Now I need to go take driving lessons :)

  18. Sushubh Says:

umm yea. i was talking about my nonsense fantasies. i admit it all the time.

  19. Ananya Says:

Can you plz stay away from them? Plz sushubh…
