Challans on the Grand Trunk Road
Anyone who has traveled from Delhi to Chandigarh on the GT road would know that the region lying in Delhi’s jurisdiction is pretty regularly checked by cops for speed violations.
The speed limit in this area (on the GT Road) is 50KMpH. Alright.
The funny thing is that one of my friend got challaned on the GT Road (ON THE GT ROAD) for over-speeding near Ambala.
The funnier thing is that everyone who was passing by was in fact over-speeding. Not a surprise considering it is the GRAND TRUNK road. Speed limit? I believe 50-60 KMpH.
I can digest having these kinds of speed limits on a city’s internal roads. But national highways? For god sake⦠At 50 KMpH, reaching Chandigarh from Delhi would take more than 6 hours. And that is assuming that you are driving at a constant speed of 50 KMpH with no stoppage in between.

Speed limit on NH-1 in haryana is 90 KMpH except on bridges and that elevated overpass in Ambala (probably where your friend was challaned) where it is 50 KMpH.
