Beta and Sorry
Sometimes I feel that the word ‘Beta’ in Technology is equivalent of the word ‘Sorry’ in normal communications. You do anything wrong, you say sorry and well… you are most of the time forgiven. Similarly… you release something, label it beta and voila… you are no longer responsible for anything that software does to the users.
And with Google, most of these beta software and web services are so fucking awesome that you cannot resist using them for mission critical purposes. They mess things up for you sometime, but you cannot complain coz they are… what else… Beta.
