Neo Sports: Good news for Cricket fans

So, as I had expected, the courts have told Neo Sports to give the cricket match feed to Doordarshan. I have not read enough on this news so I have no idea if DD is supposed to pay them any money for it. But it would happen none the less.

Neo Sports was under pressure from their advertisers who wanted more people to get to see the match so that they could benefit from the advertising they are paying for.

Though, it is still not clear whether this feed would be made available to DTH users in the country. Neo definitely wants to gain money from Tata Sky and ZEE for giving access to these matches. DTH is limited to few areas so I guess they might escape the orders from the court to give them the feed as well.

We need more transparency in our media. It’s hard to get clear facts from the information made available to us. Why can’t the people running Tata Sky DTH or Zee DTH or Neo Sports start blogging?
