Freedom from Sify Broadband
Yey! I cannot stop to express my joy on leaving Sify Broadband for good and moving on to Airtel Broadband. This is despite the fact that I had to leave home to move to another town 350 KMs away, rent an apartment and live practically alone. How are these for headlines?

Well, Airtel Broadband has not been smooth until now. Their modems have been problematic but this is coz we setup the network ourselves. I think we would need someone from them to give us a visit and re-configure the net. Until then it is going to be a bit irritating but extremely smooth.
If you are stuck with Sify Broadband, I hope you find nirvana soon as well.
And let us hope, I do not end up starting a Blog on Airtel Broadband. Mr. Sunil Mittal, you are warned ahead of time… ![]()

Thanks.

I hate sify. I have not had a connection for 1.5 months, and all they can do is say “please sir, give us 24 hours and I will resolve the issue” - that has been told to me for 1 month straight. and they wont give my money back.
They are a disgusting company. They dont control their last mile, and they have no control of the cable operators who do. They will waste their customers time, not provide service, and still deduct money from the account everyday.
In one year I have had over 4 months of downtime, and received credit for only 2 weeks - after I yelled at about 5 of their floor managers.
I tell everyone that I know what a disgusting level of service that they provide. I have had Hathway, which was slow, and error prone, but was still not as bad as rotten Sify. May they all go bankrupt.

i m using sify broadmand for 6 months in mumbai now and i have no probs with the sify service. the only problem is my cto is charging me high mainteinence charges.
For a 64kbps unlimited 6 months pack MRP. is Rs. 2250….but the cto is charging me Rs. 3150 for renewal. i.e. Rs. 900 as maintenence charges. and he hardly needs to do any mainteinence. Is there any way to bypass the cto???????

Lots of frustrated sify users…….I am also one of you. Later I switched to Airtel (in Bangalore) and since then I am enjoying a NEARLY peaceful surfing (nearly because sometimes at night there server goes down…apart from that their service is miles ahead of our cable service provider).
What is the easiest way to get the deposit back from sify? (if such a thing called easiest way exist)

Never Ever go for sify broadband
I was a regular user of Sify IWay which made me to go for a sify broadband connection .
Attaching the experience receiving from sify broadboad.
1. While taking a connection the marketing guy from jayanagar fourth block (Babuji) Informed We can
use the same connection in bangalore & mysore. But later i came to know from technically team it is
not possible.
2. A connectivity complete was raised on 20 days . till they not able to resolve it..
I use to make a call each day to get an update.. More over each time i call they use to promise
they will rectify & they use to fix an oppointment with me. So far they never turned on time..
Two Saturday & Sunday i waited & also during weekdays, They don’t have atleast a cutsey to update they can’ot make up the appointment.
I have esculated the same thing to their supervisor through customer care & found they are also careless.

Yes friends, I too am an unsatisfied Sify User. For the uninitiated, the problem lies in Sify’s policy of giving the end-mile (the actuall connection to ur house) to the Cable TV operator, over whom Sify has no control. Standards (for example the length u can run UTP Cat 6 cable) are not maintained (bah Sify to ISO certification !). The CTO technicans are often underqualified/underpaid/underequiped and the quality of terminations and wiring, suffers as a consequence.
Sify not so clearly states that there is a 150MB limit on bandwidth during 8.00-20.00 Hrs. However the extremely bad dailer gives no warning when the said limit is reached, causing grief in “excessive billing”. If u still dont have Sify DONT get it.
In my area (Goa) Sify is giving connections over UTP network cable. These are powered by “Power over ethernet” yet the network goes down regularly. In the cases when the connection actually works, it is however, satisfactory.
Sify… if u are listnening…. The CTO has to go, or there has to be better/more control over the end-mile connectivity. Maybe wireless?
The only tangible advantage I experienced with a Sify connection is the avaliablity of WAN (Wide Area Network). That is i can connect to, play games etc. with other Sify users in my city for free, because we are wired together. Also the fact that i dont have to pay for unnecessary phone connection.

July 29th, 2006 at 08:52 pm
yr people in visakhapatnam (seethammadara) really irritating,as they never lift their cell phones for any kind of assistance and our sify net broad band never works for continously for three days , and your people never bother . due to their negelegence we thought of shifting to iqara or vsnl. and further you have to improve your custmor care system. finally we give very poor rating to sify broad band due to very bad service.

Hello,
I am staying at Shipra Sun City Ghaziabad and have a SIFY broadband connection which rarely work. I am requesting to the Service Provide (PantaHome) from last 1 week to correct the issue. the connection is not working from last 10 Days and still not working. Sometime he does not pick the phone number and if by luck he attand the call, he respond like the connection will be working in next 30 mints but it could not happen from last 10 days everytime he shows that my compain number is next to where the guy is working. Is it possible in any scenerio that the second compain remain second for weeks? This is the worst service and worst people i have ever seen in Delhi and NCR. I have paid a installation charges of Rs. 1300 so ofcourse it is not free what i am demanding. The service is very very very poor.
Thanks
Vipin

Hi
I Have been using AirTel for about two years and i never had any knind of problem and I shifted to an other plase where AirTel is not avilable so i switched to an ISP called Ipura (UTeliCom) and it sucks like any thing.
When I was using AirTel I could downloas a file at 32Kbps with 128Kbps speed connection and now with Iqura 192 Kbps connection it downloads a file at 3Kbps and to the Max it 5Kbps and so I was ready to go ofr Sify and I thank all you guys for all your ideas about Sify.
Can some one sugest me a better ISP other then AirTel pleas.

This is to bring to your notice that my Internet Connection is down (AGAIN!!!) and I am extremely frustrated with the response that I have received from Sify Customer Service Department and Technical Team.
Last time around this happened, I had sent a feedback through their web site. A Customer Care executive called me and the problem was fixed TEMPORARILY!!! The Internet connection has been sporadic since then and it is completely down at the moment.
I was not able to ping the Local Gateway, I get the error message, “network cable unplugged”. Then the connection is up for 2 seconds and disconnects in a loop. I called Customer Care but I was disconnected, I was never called back. I also tried to contact the Team Lead Ashish; he was rude and unprofessional. He told me that he could not do anything to help me and instructed me to contact Customer Service for further assistance. Ashish had come to my site last time and had asked me to contact him if the problem repeats. I also tried to contact Sheker (local service provider- …SAI InfoTech…) however he did not pick up my call. I tried to call Rajesh I got this number from Ashish, he too did not did not pick up my call. Ashish told me that Dayanand was a manager but when I spoke to him he said he is just a TL).
I am under the impression that SIFY is toying with me. As I had told you last time, I loose precious money every time my Internet connection is down. But I don’t think that SIFY cares a dam about this.
I had switched over fro Reliance to SIFY. However, I am sorry to say that I sincerely regret the decision.
I have raised a complaint again through their website asking them to disconnect the broadband service, and reimburse the deposit money including the amount that I had paid for renewal. I am extremely unhappy with the whole experience.
Planing to switch back to Reliance or may go for Airtel

I am the most frustrated customer of Sify. Sify Sucks and its local providers sucks. I had once got an interview call from sify I did not attend. Now i do not regret for taking that decession. I dont care If I loose my deposit, hwever I will stop using Sify. Sify will never win the market share, I am sure if this is the case. Ass holes. The end is near.
January 18th, 2007 at 09:49 am
SIFY Broad Band technically very good since the customer care / Tech. support & Toll Free #, but for their business associates and the cable operators support. I am in a place where only SIFY BB is available since TATAINDICOM, AIRTEL & BSNL not ready with cabling. The Broad Band is just 4 years young in India and shall have lot many problems. I have used TATA Broad band and services were bad & frequivent server down. As of day I am left with SIFY BB option only. I read all the comments of SIFY BB customers and found that most of the customers are more interested in the money what they have spent and using absord words like the cowboys in US. We pay penuts compare to US.

We got the connection from SIFY, the sales guy didn’t even said that it is rooted through a booster kept in some other’s residence. When ever the current goes, the internet connection is gone !! Never ask about the speed. SIFY SUCKS !!
February 24th, 2007 at 02:29 pm
what u ppl r going through is peanuts compare to my experience.i am right now in patna and believe me the broadband experience has been nothing short of horrific.for 6 continuous days my broadband connction regularly went off at 10pm and miraculously returned back again at 8am and guess what i had the night time plan and i was not able to access for straight 6 days.when i asked for reimbursement they started making excuses and when i refused to give them money they cut off my connection.and they have flatly said that the problems will continue and no one can do anything about it.just 2 months into the service and i already have had enough.anyone knows how to aplly for a consumer redressal forum?
March 11th, 2007 at 01:08 pm
Hello Friends !! I have subscribed for Sify braoadband service in Hyderabad . Its just been not more than 4 months with Sify. The second month service has been so disgusting that I had several times asked the local provider to pluck the cable off and get lost with it.
Service with Sify has been sick and very painful in the past 4 months. Initially I had hell lot of connectivity errors. Later local internet provider who has given me the connection is a negligent person , does not care to attend customers calls while in need. The mobile rings ans then he disconnects the calls, which shows his carelessness. The service started giving me another problem . The expiry date of my Sify account when I recharged it with a new voucher showed a 27 th mar 2007, at 6 pm . The next day I logged in it showed me an expiry date of 25th mar 2007, after 2 days, it said 22nd 12 am, and when I logged in today it showed me an expry date of 18 th mar 2007. This is a Laptop, I use it personally, nobody else can use it without my knowledge. On the whole in a month, I had lost 9 days just because my sify account went cranky. I called up the Sify customer care 4 times just regarding this issue, every time I call up I have to go through the IVR (Interactive Voice Recording) for a 5 mins, it puts me on hold for about 8-10 mins and then I get to speak to a dumb customer service agent who can hardly understand english and asks me to repeat the issue atleast three times as they did not understand. Most of the times I was asked to call back. If they could not find out where the problem is , they would tell me that the server is down and call back. They asked me type in my phone number and they would call back. Nobody had cared to call me back and tell me what had happened with my account or what had happened about my complaint. I sincerely advise Sify service , that if they cannot give proper service to their customers, better not give connections. I really don’t understand what good the customer sercie people are doing to their customers. Sify service is so poor and pathetic that they cannot take care of their customers problems. I really get frustrated to see their advertisements saying “Sify the fastest internet for those who hate to wait.” I would never like to recommend anybody to subscribe to Sify… because I understand how sick a service it is. Irresponsible, inefficient, not capable of maintaning neither its reputaion nor its customers properly.
I expected a lot from Sify, before I had the connection. Now, I regret having it. I beleive that customer satisfaction to any business is most imporatant. Having thousands of customers with not too many satisfied customers is ntohing great at all. I really hope anybody concerned with Sify, cares to read all this and respond. I have wasted a lot of time in giving my reviews about Sify, at least for people who are trying to get connected with Sify braodband. Please read this and make a wise descision.
Thanks
Soumya

I had a local internet connection which had just 64 kbps & he was a rude fellow. I had to switch on to broadband for his rude even though the connection was good & sometimes more than 64kbps to 128 kbps. The cost was around Rs.500/- per month for unlimited downloads. But, he started coming once in 2 months to collect the bill & used to say that I have previous dues and he was so irritating that he doesn’t even look at the bills that I paid, he just keeps saying…you have dues. lol. I said him goodbye & tried for BSNL which obviously sucked…no one in the customer care were free to answer me. They were free chatting each other & sitting on a comfortable chair. huhu. Finally, I spoke to them & they said 6 months to get a connection in my area. I said Good bye & moved on to AirTel which was not feasible in our area. Then, I moved on to Reliance which said no feasibility but you can connect through mobile @ 50 paise per minute. I said Goodbye to his mobile service & Internet service. I moved on to Tata & they said they will try to get a wire from somewhere and make my area feasible. I called the person nearly 20 times in a month & all he had to say was ..just keep waiting, I will come tomorrow / day after tomorrow. He meant Tomorrow never comes in his voice. I moved to Sify which I know sucks. He charged Rs.1200/- for Installation (Most of my colleagues got the installation for Rs.300 or even free). They started making me a bakra first half itself & then took 7 days to put up the connection. Later, the service broke down & it was fixed fast within 3 / 4 hours. Lol. The speed on first day & Second day showed 105 kbps (128 kbps was my speed) & from third day it gone down to 80kbps. I thought it to be my firewall & antivirus that is stopping and tried to disable both and tried the speed. It just increased to 70kbps. haha…I think this is how the broadband goes on. I had plans of 256 kbps speed…I might go for it soon so that I get atleast 128 kbps pakka. :))

Hi All,
I am a new sify broadband customer.
I have read the comments regarding the sify service, so it seems the service is not efficient.
But in our locality as there is no other service I was forced to opt for this.
I have a query regarding some problems.
Sometimes at night I am getting the problem
” System Error: Ip address conflict:
there is an IP address conflict with another system on the network ”
Could anyone tell me what might be the reason for this type of problem, so that it helps to troubleshoot this problem or else is this error lies with the service provider.
I never changed the IP Address on my system when this problem occured.
Looking up for your support……..
Thanks,
Vijay

Hi ,
My experience with Sify has been HORRIBLE. I have taken the Sify connection on 28 April and by 5 May the connection has gone down at least 12 times. Everyday after 9:30 pm the connection goes down and u r forced to wait till the next day to find out if the guy is going to fix it up for u.
When u call their customer care they say 10 - 12 hours. Now so for 5 days for 10 -12 hours means they were working on the problem for 50 hours and still could not find out the problem. These ppl might just pack their bags and get out of business. They are CHEATERS and THUGS in the guise of providing services.
I just want to file a suit against these guise so that the court directs them not to cheat its clients so much. Remember the time when by court direction the incoming calls were made free on mobiles and also roaming charges were slashed. Without a stick these ppl will never work.

I am the MOST frustrated customer of Sify. here goes my experience
On Mar 27, i paid 2500/- as installation charges to the local operator requesting him for broadband connection. On the day i paid him the amount he told me that he would give connection within one day. After that for 2 weeks, he said that he could not give his time as it was world cup time(he is also the cable TV operator for this area) and he delayed 1 more week saying that he need to buy a connecting switch and he would need some time. With all these reasons he took 20 days to just connect me to internet. And only on the day they gave connection, i could access internet. From the next day onwards im facing some or the other problem(i don’t even get connected to the LAN). I have logged several cases with sify customer care. But nothing was solved. Everyday i give atleast two calls to my local operator. For a couple of weeks he used to throw the blame on my computer saying that there’s some problem with my computer, my drivers are corrupted etc. I checked the connection using a couple of my friends laptops. But still i couldn’t get connected with those laptops. I told him the same and he said that he would change the cables but he never did that. When i log cases with customer care they again pass that case to my local operator or the technical support guy for this area(who seems to be a close friend of my local operator). I seriously didn’t have any options left , finally I got fed up with his service and went to his office on 4th may(please note that i had waited for ~40 days by that time) and tried to threaten him saying that i would go for police if this case is left unresolved. I received a very vulgur treatment for this, his friends used all the foul language and even tried to hurt me when i said that i would go for police.
I seriously donno what to do… any advices other than good bye to sify???

This Sify bastards are nothing less than frauds. The local service providers at Shipra Suncity are equally and genuine thiefs. Service: horrible, Net connection always unstable and most non reliable. RWA is another incompetent joint who cannot straighten them. In fact RWA is a most inefficient entity in Shipra Suncity. Kya kare, Shipra aur Sify mein phans gaye !
May 22nd, 2007 at 11:37 am
With all these complains against Sify , why are they not beating the shit out of the Sify fellows and turn them out of Shipra Suncity
May 28th, 2007 at 05:21 pm
Hi Folks…..
I had initially tried out Tataindicom in the month of july 2006…According to the plan, i paid 4 months advance (i.e around 2900 bucks)….this waived my installation charges…for two months everything went preety smoothly..though in between twice i had to raise complaints for disconnection which took them rough aroung 2 weeks to fix…After those two months, the connection went doen and never came up….i called anyone & everyone in that crap tataindicom provider office n those shits didnt come to fix the problem….after around 3 months they came out with a receipt of 165 bucks as outstanding….i told the guy just disconnect the shitty tataindicom connection and do whatever with the ammount that was there in my account as i had already paid the amount in advance….
now, when i m plannin to get a net connection, i am really scared to go for any provider….all seem to be in the same shitty boat …..all these providers are assholes…..

but the system recorded a download of 550 mb on that one day itself
they deducted 11 days from my monthly subscription.

I am from Bangalore and took sify broadband in January, 2007. I had to go in for Sify as there was no other broad band in my area at that time. In the last seven months I have had nothing but trouble, I feel I was better off without and internet connection.
The connection hardly works. Either it does not connect or if it does, it will keep flapping, every 20 minutes.
Renewal is another big problem… even if I give a post dated cheque to my cable operator he would not renew it on time and will only do the renewal after repeated calls for 3-4 days after the account expires…
So I started renewing using the credit card. It worked fine for a couple of months. In July, when I tried renewing it with credit card, after taking in the card details, I dint’ get the confirmation. It gave the URL not found error. I checked if the account was renewed. It wasn’t renewed and so I tried again. Same thing happened. I tried two more times and it hadn’t renewed, so I thought there is some issue with the transaction gateway.
Now my credit card has been charged for four transactions and Sify has not renewed the account. I called sify, and they promised to get back in a couple of days. I keep calling them every second day to revert the transaction back, but they have not been responsive. The credit card bill is due to be paid in first week of August. I really don’t know how to get Sify to undo the transactions.
I am totally frustrated with their service :(… I have just now got BSNL in my area and the connection is really good. Broadband issue solved, but this credit card issue still remains to be sorted out…

I am a SIFY CLIENT, USING THE SO-CALLED SIFY BROADBAND of 128 KBPS - for the last THREE YEARS APPROXIMATELY. My experience is one of the worst, with SIFY and constantly, by an average, 4 to 5 days there is NO service of net connection occuring regularly and RECENTLY THERE IS NO SERVICE FOR 10 DAYS AND THEIR SO-CALLED TECHNICAL TEAM AND LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE ARE NOTHING BUT FARCE AND SIMPLY TAKING THE CUSTOMERS LIKE US FOR GRANTED AND CREATING WORST EXPERIENCES SO FAR.
Sify is nothing but a company who treats the clients in a most despicable ways and every body passing the buck to some other instead of actually redressing the customer’s complaint and I am planning to take the issue to the consumer court and also to the department of consumer affairs of the government of india.
I strongly advise, other potential users of the broad band connection, think many times before going to sify service. That is all I can say since, I have been suffering such a ill treatment for years from SIFY.
THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY CUSTOMER-CARE SERVICE.
ALL THEY HAVE ONLY CUSTOMER-DONT-CARE SERVICE AND ALSO WHO-CARES-THE-CUSTOMER. PLEASE THINK MANY TIMES, BEFORE GOING TO SIFY SERVICE FOR BROAD BAND USAGE. THIS IS MY REQUEST.
WITH REGARDS,
T. SESHADRI
