CBZ Xtreme: For 60000 bucks?
I was standing at this metro station in Delhi where I saw this mobile showcase of Hero Honda bikes. Sadly, they were carrying Hero Honda Glamour and Hero Honda Super Splendor instead of the recently launched Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme.
I asked for the details of the CBZ Xtreme. They said it’s on display in the showroom and would be delivered to the buyers starting from November 15. And there is only one model and its going to cost around Rs. 59.5K.
A CBZ for 60000 bucks? Why would people buy that? Why not the recently launched Bajaj Pulsar with digital odometer for a couple of thousand more?
I think the Pulsar 150cc model with disc breaks goes for around 57-58K. Hero Honda needed to have priced the Xtreme cheaper than the Pulsar 150cc model to give people an incentive to go for it. But they are as arrogant as always.

These puny bikes are no match for Bullets…of course I drive one and thats why I am prejudiced.
November 13th, 2006 at 11:20 am
Hi All,
I would like to say that People get a beer bottle for Rs.65/- in local shop, But the same bottle is sold for Rs.130/- to Rs.150/- in 5 Star Hotels. So u also pay for the snacks U get and the Prestige of being there and also for the Service provided.
Similarly The same thing applies on bikes too, Pulsars are cheeeeep bikes that’s Y the price is low and even old people 60+ drive pulsars, A road - side machanic owns a pulsar.
This is not the case with CBZ and Karitzma, here u need to pay for the esteem u get while u drive it. Thats Y this bikes are made costlier than the other bikes in the same category.
So that beggers can go for the cheeper ones and the royal people can spand few more bucks to get a bike not owned by beggers.
Look at the gear shift padel its “toe only” and “not heal and teo” so that it keeps old fellows away from it. And Shows that its only for young Macho man’s
For. Eg. Merz is made costly so that only rich people can go for it, And U need to have a world class personality along with money to get a
Rolls-Royce.
So the HH bikes are costly than the other company bikes in same category because HH want’s people of good class drive their bikes and any one who can own a bike.
November 13th, 2006 at 11:31 am
Mistake corrected in the above posting:
So the HH bikes are costly than the other company bikes in same category because HH want’s people of good class drive their bikes and not any one who can own a bike.
November 13th, 2006 at 01:45 pm
This is being written in the rply of Mr. Satish Kumar’s view about Pulsars. you said that pulsars are cheap, and affording a CBZ or Karizma is being a Royal one, either you don’t know abt the facts that how much popular bike pulsar is. What is HH without Honda moters, they just know to produce 100cc bikes with similar types of chassis and engine in their every model. While the pulser is totally designed by Bajaj team , and its styling is totally original not a copy. So you can not say it cheap, coz money is not every thing. And this is a success story for bajaj. So The Pulser is definitely male, I know that CBZ is also a good bike, but its becoz of its price, this is coz of technolgy. As far as Pulser is concern i think its a good bike not best in india. U can not compare in terms of money.
SO IF YOU THINK THAT ONLY MONEY MATTERS THEN ITS UR WRONG, PULSER IS NOT POPULER COZ ITS CHEAP, IT IS POPULER COZ ITS AWESOME.
November 13th, 2006 at 02:33 pm
honestly speaking i wud hav loved to see bajaj become the No.1 in india.. after wat rajeev bajaj said last month … but sadly they have been well u cud say got kicked in the ass…. and i believe CBZ-x which hasnt been even released on the road has already hurting the pulsars!!!
pulsar is a very good bike… grt looks… power–pick up… u have everything u need….
but the problem is so does cbz-x… now whn it comes to a choice between 2 similar product with same price… the company’s brand plays a big role… people trust HH more than bajaj… it has the image of the cleanest company when it comes to making claims abt its bikes… they deliver wat the promise…(me pissed off at bajaj 108kmpl ads..its cheating)
So my suggestion… both cbz-x and pulsar are equals…. but wont u rather hav a bike that not many people have ryt now??? u’ll get more attention…!!!
choice is urs !!! my choice pretty clear isnt it…
and as for the tug-of-war on the price front, satifaction comes at a price. you could buy a pulsar(cheaper than CBZ XTreme) and repent for the rest of your life, or go get a CBZXtreme which comes bundled with peace of mind.
November 13th, 2006 at 02:35 pm
also…. this one is to the moderator. comeon man….being a moderator, dont be judgemental. your unbiased approach would have had been appreciated. but seriously man…… get a life. get yourself a CBZXTreme or keep drooling on your lousy pulsar
November 15th, 2006 at 12:11 am
Hey Pulsar fools, The sparks generated by the DTSi is so intense that the plugs need replacement every 5,000 kms, they also spoil many engine parts, they also make inner side of the cylinder hard b’cos when engine comes to off, the whole engine cools of from higher temperature, the result is it gets quenched abnormally and hence making the bore very hard, that’s why after 10,000/15,000 kms you get clinging sound, vibration and harshness, Bajaj is still thinking DTSi is a hit, but it’s the poor people who buy who are making Bajaj a success.
I rode my cousin’s Unicorn yesterday which has made 27,000 kms and it’s that same feeling like riding new Unicorn. Believe me NO PART change w.r.t engine or gearbox till date, just a meter buld, tail lamp covering ,taillamp bulb and brake pads. This is what my cousin has changed so far apart from regular charging of oil.
Whereas Pulsars cry for attention of road-side mechanics and part change even at 10,000 kms. Pulsars are duds w.r.t technology, sad that people still believe that DTSi is a rocket technology
Honda is Honda , complete value for money, highly reliable, what’s more Xtreme comes with Uni engine and Honda reliability. Pularians can only shout loud that Xtreme is bad nothing else.
November 15th, 2006 at 12:17 am
Pulsarians, Do you know there’s a jump in HH Karizma sale?? And the reason is Pulsar
Hero Honda is laughing and making their cash registers ringing
due to poor pulsars. Pulsars are normally abandoned after 1/2 years or 15,000 kms and their next choice is obviously KARIZMA
Bajaj fools who believe that Bajaj is going great should see Oct2006 sales numbers. HH claims 5,30,000 + bikes sold in Oct2006, Bajaj managed to push 3,50,000 bikes.
Hero Honda cannot be compared with IIIrd grade Bajaj w.r.t quality and reliability for-ever
Xtreme rules
November 15th, 2006 at 10:21 am
Hey Vyom U say that HH just know to produce 100cc bikes with similar types of chassis and engine in their every model.
Then what abt Bajaj. Boxer had some 4 variants, CT 100 has the same engine, tank. Platina has robbed complete design of Wind and the engine again form boxer, Discover 112 has the same enging of boxer with a bit higher bore & stroke.
Bikes in three segments 150,180,220 yet to come, has same design, look and name PULSAR what abt. this.
So can u keep ur mouth shut in this regard.
Can u name one bike from HH that u can see in more than one segment, even splendor+ and super splendor have different looks and engine.
November 17th, 2006 at 06:03 pm
Hey Satish , regarding the toe only option in xtreme, i would say it as ridiculas design because if HH wanted this bike to be a true sports bike then it shud look like a real sports bike with higher engine capacity, rear disc etc ..HH just wanted to give something new without any modifications well thought out.
November 17th, 2006 at 06:06 pm
But i wud say that the bike does not look that bad as it looks in the pic. It looks ok. I saw it at a showroom and wanted to test ride but it was not avialable for ride at that time.
November 19th, 2006 at 07:19 pm
Its really funny to hear the bajaj and pulsar fans really crying their hearts out and saying bajaj is is Made in India technology…!! i mean ..who cares whether the technology is indian or not…. the bikes needs to be good…and people are willing to shell out a few extra bucks to afford that luxury of a super refined engine…
who cares for a few 1000 bucks more if it gives me a product thats never gonna give me any trouble… making an engine is not a grt deal..making a “good” engine is the trick !!!
well my advice to bajaj…. hmm…. kuch nahi ho sakta tumhara…please continue to make ur three wheelers!!! ..lols..
November 19th, 2006 at 07:24 pm
CBZ xtreme costs 54k for kick start..and 56k for electric start (this is without taxes)… i just booked my bike today…so the prices are exact…
please dont put wrong figures and mislead people..anyways ..whoever wants to get a bike will know its worth before buyin it…no need for bajaj moderators to give advice to people… everyone knows why bajaj bikes are priced cheaper… :))
November 19th, 2006 at 10:42 pm
well i told the price which i was told by a company representative.
November 20th, 2006 at 07:22 pm
Hey Prashanth,
Your points on DTSi is eye opener, b’cos in Non-DTSI there is no clinging sound. My cousin gets advice from Bajaj service that he change spark plus every service interval and it costs 200 bucks. No other bike needs spark plug replacement so early.
I have booked Black Xtreme after test riding many times. Xtreme is very affordable compared to competition b’cos HH is better off w.r.t good quality, reliability, consistency and service compared to TVS or Bajaj. Overall I rate Xtreme price as ‘very low’.
November 24th, 2006 at 07:03 pm
Hey Lemme tell U people the real fact abt. Bajaj.
I drove my Discover 125 to 90kmph suddenly there was no response from the engine, And after that whenever I stopped at the signals and slowed down the bike, the Engine got used to get switched off. Any ways this is some thing I have already experinced, This problem was corrected, And as usual it was a tuning problem. Which IIIII explained to the show room mechanic. But actual fact is My bike has done 10,000+ Kms and I haven’t experinced any major problem till now.
But U people will get amazed to know this that all the bikes are not the same, There were some 4 people complaining abt. Pulsar there, Saying that they are spending most of their salary in maintaining their bike so called PULSAR. It very frequently requirs parts replacement that now they know most of the technical names of the spares.
So if some one feel that those people earn less so that they spend more than half of the salary for their bike. Then it means only beggers go for PULSAR. As I said before.
And IF some one feel that those people are not beggers and earn more then that means that PULSAR is eating-out their owners.
November 25th, 2006 at 04:58 pm
So Should I purchase this bike or not is the real question. My friend has Pulsar and since a yr he hadn’t had much problem. Indian or not, value for money is more important. Does CBZ offer that. The design looks more or less like the earlier CBZ. What’s the fuel efficiency on this one?
November 26th, 2006 at 07:47 pm
let me tel somthin for the bajaj’ians…
I am a grduate frm kerala and vd like to buy a 150cc machine, i m lookin for the CBZX and gon out to see the X in the showroom..but sadly, its stil not available here in kerala for test ride.i hv to wait till dec first week for gettin my hands on to one.
i am waitin for the bike, with ready cash. i am not a ‘anti-pulsarian’ but i don want to spend my money for a pulsar. coz, evryone 7 out f 10 hav it !! anybody havin a 1000bucks and a bank loan is ther to take pulsar(finally, aftr 2 months bike vd b ther in bank for resale :)… ).In my stands, 60000 bcks is not a smal amount and i want ‘value for money’.Thts why i m optin for HH wher the reliablty, quality and stsfction stands…
November 27th, 2006 at 06:40 pm
hey i am planning to buy a bike im not able to decide between cbz or pulsar lps suggest me pls mail me i wan tfuel efficient bike with less maintenance since im only earning 15 k /month
December 4th, 2006 at 08:13 pm
Hey Pulsarians, Just visit a nearby HH showroom and just look at Black Xtreme, If u r weak hearted/Bajaj fan to the core, then you are likely to die instantly- go visit to believe…but do take care of your self
Not even a few Xtremes on road yet but Pulsarians are crying and sobbing with dirty tech of Bajaj

CBZ will rule for sure, but expect imitations from poor TVS and Bajaj soon….but with time HH will win by miles or by smiles
December 5th, 2006 at 11:14 am
Hey guys i wanna have a bike for that i got the loan….coz m very crazy for this Xtreme at the very first glimps..But on the other hand Pulsar Pitch black do haunt me in my dreamz when i use to ride my buddies bikes….Sooo…still yet to decide which to buy….both seems to be gooooddd!!! I need a bike tht gives me value for money and less maintanence and milage and power and…….lols there will be more ANDs… lets check this XXXTEME OUT BUDDY!!!!!
December 6th, 2006 at 02:42 pm

December 7th, 2006 at 12:44 am
VISWA,
With that salary I suggest you to trust hard earned money in CD Dawn/Splendor. You can always sell it at good re-sale value and upgrade to better bike with your next hike in salary.
December 7th, 2006 at 02:40 am

Hey guys i m a hero honda fan all the way due to their performance….so the rel ques 4 me is 51000 unicorn or 54000 CBZ…any comments??
January 20th, 2007 at 12:19 pm
i have a discover dtsi & it is great. intially i thought of buying a 150 cc bike, but when i test drove it i felt the same power and pick up as that of a pulsar. its pick up, its looks are awesome riding quality is superb. its much better than all 125 cc bikes like glamour(-a waste of money),victor etc. its even better than achiever and apache. when u ride it u can feel the power which is absent in all hh bikes -BAJAJ IS THE BEST. AND WHAT U PEOPLE SAY BOUT CBZX IS WRONG ,it does not give features acc to its price and low mileage prob still exists. HH BIKES R POOR ,IHAVE DRIVEN ALL OF THEM EXCEPT KARIZMA which is made with the help of honda. so if u want a bike with power pichup &performance go for discover or pulsar………….and all HH LOVERS SHUT UP…………………
February 28th, 2007 at 11:33 pm

March 24th, 2007 at 08:18 pm
hey guys.. listen to me. i have got a PULSAR 150 dtsi, which is 6month old only.. i met with the accident twice. just coz the brakes and the overall control of the bike is just pathetic.. i had been riding bikes for the past 10 yrs and never met with any accident.. if u r a lover of speed and thrill riding over 100 kmph.. pulsar is not meant for u.. believe me i got the experience with accidents,,. so i hav sold that bike off and planning to buy CBZ xtreme which is really good with speed riding.. i have done the riding so many time on this bike it has come out with a cool performance.. the best part is the BRAKING.. i applied the brakes at 100 kmpl and it was awesome feeling of safety which cant be achieved in pulsar,,.. also there is no prob in achieving 100 kmph without much of the vibration(thats wat i felt) whereas u really need to tussle with pulsar to get this performance.. although there are few negatives with xtreme like the small headlight and the bad styling of seat coming upto the fuel tank which doesnt look so good.. rear part s awesome.also the price is abit more if lokk for the accessories respectively……. but overall positives are high as compared to the negatives.. so without any doubt i m buying this bike on march 1st….
March 27th, 2007 at 07:29 pm

CBZ Extreme- HH’s most dumb model. No looks, no style, nothing is there. Pulsar is much much better than this. I am in a looser’s end for buying this. Nobody should buy this.
July 12th, 2007 at 11:48 am
Hi guys,
I m a proud owner of the new CBZ Xtreme for the past 3 months.
I owned a Caliber earlier & i must say, the gearbox of HH bikes is undoubtedly superior to that of Bajaj bikes.
I have driven the P-150 & Apache. Both are incomparable to the Xtreme in terms of the following strengths. In fact even the 1st generation P-180 is no match for it.
STRENGTHS:
Superb pick up & handling, comfortable riding(lean-in) posture, stylish looks (integrated indicators, metallic silver color, great matte finish)
top speed :115 kmph (i myself reached 110), average :45-50
WEAKNESSES:
Slight vibration at 80+ kph, high back seat
PS: Junta should post messages only after duly riding the bikes they comment on.
July 16th, 2007 at 03:24 pm
cbz is superb bike in india, pulsar just sucks cbz xtreme.cbz is fast it has very good pickup than pulsar.for me cbz xtreme gives around 50 to 55 has mileage even though i drive very rashily its give that mileage.so u all go n buy cbz xtreme.HH ROCKS N CBZ XTREME ROCKS.

hi friends,
in my view hh bikes are very much standard compared to bajaj. in bajaj the model will be always remodified so that the customer will be always in loss of their resale value.
one good example i can give you, can you remember that how many bajaj vehicles were sold in past 5 years and how mamy old bajaj vehicles you are seeing now on the roads. what happen to all those vehicles. the one thing we can notice that the life span of bajaj vehicles is very less compared to hero honda vehicles.
coz. u can see the cd 100 which has released more than 15 years back are still on roads.
one thing im talking only about 4-stroke engines not about 2-stroke.
November 23rd, 2007 at 10:27 am

Hi all,
CBZ Extreme is a beautifully designed frm the back and u cant compare it with the other 150cc bikes in particular rear looks.
that is awesome
pulsar 150 has 13.8 bhp as extreme pumps out 14.4 bhp(14.2 is not correct)
It has the best acceleration as compared to pulsar and other 150’s as RTR 160
is 160 cc.
IT GIVES THE RIDER EXTRAORDINARY COMFORT COMPARED TO ANY OTHER RACE STYLED BIKES IN THE SEGMENT
It has the smoothest gearBox and comes with a single lever (ready for race stuff)
Its not for the shorter guys, but the men with elegant height stuff.
5.8 and above will give right balance in city conditions
it give me amileage of 47kmpl.. trust me it has a good resale

Guys,
Believe this !!!
i have bought my XtremeBEAST 6 months back and have rode 5000 kms so far, out of which 4000 kms are on trip during night journey. This BEAST never had put me on trouble and experience this XBEAST between 70-80 KMP on the Highway roads and you’ll experience it. Such a smooth ride, acceleration is AWESOME, EXCELLENT RIDE CONTROL and ride this BEAST during night and you’ll want to ride DOZENS of them !!!!

i purchased cbz xtreeme………rtr is good inough..but hight & lenth is too less….every new bike rides smoothely that not means it is long run..so dont think for rtr just think long run..
