Maruti service levels going down the drain

Having owned a Maruti car since the last 6-7 months, I have realized that I do not end up getting the service I expect from the company which keeps on winning the J. D. Power Asia Pacific’s customer satisfaction study every year.

Considering they sold more than 60,000 cars last month (22,294 of them Maruti Alto), it’s not tough to imagine why they are failing to satisfy the customers. The quality levels of spare parts I got for my Swift were horrible. It’s time they concentrate on pleasing their dealers and expand the network of official service centers.

Well Maruti should incorporate a dynamic servicing system wherein a customer feeds information regarding his car and estimates are sought on repair, labour and spares. Generally Maruti service dealers are famous for charging 200% to 300% of the actual MRP price of the spare. Secondly when oil is changed the used oil should be canned or returned to customer that way cheating can be avoided. Lastly frequent checks on the system followed for repairing should be cross verified. Just today when I went to give the vehicle for servicing there was a customer complaining that there was no coolent in the radiator, he was damm lucky that the vehicle did not get damaged. The coolent bill has been debited to him. What a sheer negligence, we customers are at the mercy of the dealer, company officials are succumbing to dealers for ensuring sales. Anything goes as long as they achieve their required numbers.

My experience with Sai Service Mumbai, Andheri, Borivili, & Goa has been upto expection. Next Solar automobile in Bangalore too seems to be doing a good job. Other dealers equipment and standards are really doubtable. Let me check out RNS motors whether they will live up

Today I gave Maruthi for a paid service, the customer executive gave two options: 9 point service and full service.I asked about cost he said 9 point service is 3500 and paid servce is 5500.I asked him breakup details, he is not at all giving. He has simply put in the bill labour 4000 and service parts1000.What sort of bill is this? I will never make a mistake in my life again to buy a Maruthi Car.

    Dear All,

First we have to take appointments with the service locations for Maruti. I experienced this with M/s Sai Service Center in Andheri. While all around the globe people are trying to remove queue, here the scenario is different.

I own a Maruti Alto - and today I gave it to an authorized Maruti Service station to get the customary 2nd free service done.

They asked me if I am facing any problem in particular. Lucky, that I do not have a problem with my 6-month-old Alto. I requested them to get the interiors cleaned - the car ceiling, dashboards, seat covers etc.

To my amazement they charged me INR 350/- (plus the Taxes) I expected it to be free, the same has been told in the Maruti Manual Book.

Later that day, I came to understand, from a friend of mine that the same work can be done for INR -50/- (in Kolkata – West Bengal) on any roadside workshop.

So my advice is - please do the least necessary from the authorized service stations - and for any cleaning work get it done outside else you end up spending unnecessary.

I also found that services offered by Maruti is becoming very poor. I purchased my car from Fort Point, Thane more than 6 months back, but still not received AutoCard. When contacted Maruti Toll Free No., they informed that I need to contact Citibank, and Citibank subsequently informed that I need to contact dealer.

So, I advise that Maruti Company itself should have clarity about their policies. Also, it’s very true that for interior cleaning, Maruti service centre charges Rs. 350-500 during free service time also.

I own a maruti swift which is 2 months old. While giving the vehicle for the first service (which is supposed to be a free service, whatever it means), the dealer insisted that I will have to foot the oil price and its not free.

I have owned others cars and the free services offered by car manufacturer used to be FREE. I do not remember paying for oil separately. Can any one confirm if this is the case only for Maruti ?
