Koffee with Karan: Duh
Well. Let me clarify something. I have nothing against Karan Johar or any other individual. Everything written here is personal opinion and nothing is aimed to defame anyone.
I did manage to watch 10 minutes of the much talked about talk show with the famed director Karan Johar. But well, as I had expected it was more like a friend circle chatting between themselves (Remember Friends in Central Perk? It is same without the fun part). What else can I say when Karan asks Shah Rukh about 1 movie he would not have liked to be a part of and gets “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” as the answer. It was supposed to be humorous, but I found it to be a cheap attempt to get some laughs. Please excuse me; I do not want a new role model to look forward to because I am a fan of Aamir Khan.
Next comes another duo from the friend circle of Johar, Kareena Kapoor, and Rani Mukherjee. I do not expect to see Govinda on this show anytime soon. First, we will have to bear the entire cast of “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” and “Kal Ho Naa Ho” as guests on Koffee with Karan. Even “The Kumars at No 42” is better.
On the good side, we at least now know that Shah Rukh knows that we think he is gay! His response to the question, I cannot have 2 kids if I am gay. Well, I do not know much about gay people but I think you can…

Koffee with Karan is a brilliant example of how bored the indian population is at present and what they look for in terms of entertainment and don’t get me started on taste. Its a pity that a channel like star world has started to show crap like this but I guess the people of star world know just what thrills our decadent society-Bollywood bullshit! We the masses are the ones that decorate the kareenas and karans of the world with confidence that overrides the grey matter areas which are so limited in our stars. They must have truly done a lot in terms of giving you a model to aspire to so I hope one day I see you’ll having a koffee with karan.

I agree dude, its sad.. the so called entertainment, the so called actors. Everytime I switch on something on TV its same old crap.
And be proud of who??? Shahrukh ??? As an India I had rather be proud of the pollution than an over grown dude who can only play a romantic stubborn kid whose aim in life is to get a gal.
And this show is another example of celebrating mediocre stuff. This is a race to the bottom and everbody is part of the ride. Hop on in.

It is your blog and you can write whatever you want… but I see no point to the paragraph posted. If you wanted to criticize the show that would be fine, or if you wanted to criticize SRK (acting or otherwise) that would be fine too. Criticism however, has to be backed by thought and logic, both of which are thoroughly absent here.
If I had to summarize your writings: I don’t like the show. I don’t like the guests. I hate SRK. Why?. I can’t tell from your musings, and my guess is neither can you…

I totally agree with the comment that Koffee show is all about KJ’s friend circle that merely consists of KHNH, KKHH, and KKKG casts… this show is the biggest crap show that I have seen in the recent times. And yes Aamir Khan is way more talented than SRK, SRK really sux when its comes to acting he looks so damned fake, he is better off doing dance performances on award shows etc.

Again, nothing wrong with being gay. Guess indian society needs to open up a bit. It’s real, it’s here, it was here but just not-talked-about. Am glad people are becoming more aware - though that unfortunately becomes divisive too.
That said, I watched the KJ show last night off the net. The music jingle is kinda groovy and set is pleasing, though am not in touch with indian TV scene much.
But it was so apparent that KJ was gossiping among his friends, just getting it recorded and broadcasted. You invite people to know more about their mettle et al, not just how they feel and their relationships among each other. Maybe someday we might start having talk shows which provide inspiration to masses by posing quality non-cliche questions to thousands of people who aren’t on TV but are making a difference.
That’s a problem with media in general I guess - they always think society comes for entertainment TV/Cinema to escape reality - why not make stuff which helps people face and change their own reality - don’t just leave that responsibility to public Gurus and corrupt Netas. This is a real need to society - and it does *reflect* society - one of the common excuses from entertainment producers for making all the vulgar violent and decadent waste of film.
Finally - all who hate how Ekta Kapoor is damaging our society - hope we can do something together to stop that rotten disease from spreading!

I don,t know about Shahrukh, if he is gay or not, but Karan johar is a must gay. We were having the same kind of boy, who was use to act and walk in the same way as he does, and he was a very very famous gay. Times changed..there are pretty boys, ofcourse u cant call Leonardo de caprio a handsome dude. Afterall, the (SRK)Khan-(Yash)Chopra-(Karan)Johar group rules the film industry… and they deserve it. You have to agree to this. KWK might or might not be regarded as a good show depending upon the interests, inclinations and tastes of the viewers. Ours is a country with varied social, economic and regional strata. If someone really likes the show, so be it. Why undermine or degrade people just because they like watching whatever the heck is shown?
Same holds true for “K” serials of Ekta Kapoor.
Nonone forces you to watch those shows. The reason why these “esteemed” channels are running them is that they are getting high TRPs because of them. They are in the business of earning money and they are bound to show what is popular.
However, coming to the second issue being discussed here: whether or not Karan is gay and Shahrukh gay/bi. Does it really matter what they are as long as they are doing it in the privacy and confines of their homes? I am not here to advocate the acting or direction skills of these men but simply put across a fact that professional and personal lives of people are different and who are we to judge people based on their personal choices, which are not harming or for that matter, even affecting us remotely?
So far as the feminine nature of Karan is concerned, it is high time we moved beyond stereotypes. I have seen ultra macho, highly masculine guys make out wit other guys in gay parties. I am currently dating a guy noone would suspect of being gay ever. I myself have a gayhag and people think that I am sleeping with her and see us as a couple without even a shred of suspicion. And there are plenty of feminine guys whom I have mistaken to be gays in my earlier days but they were as straight as an arrow. So, guys! just try and put your productive energies elsewhere than attemtping to construe someone’s sexuality by just his/ her appearance. It is not that simple a phenomenon!

Anyway, the TV audience were good enough to reject this national waste and was off air.

Well, I have to sadly accept that SRK is full of bull#$#@ when he says I cannot be gay and have 2 kids. Lets use Melissa Erthridge (American singer) as an example. She lives with her “wife”, and her wife has birthed several children “for her”. SRK: do you think we’re stupid? It’s tech era: anybody can have a kid thanks to artificial insimination (for women) and female carrier (for gay men). I guess India hasn’t seen “Queer As Folk”-the first gay show in America where one of the gay guys donates his sperm to a lesbian couple who go on with their lives as if they themselves have conceived the child together. Anyway…
I’m actually pissed off because I think it’s true (that he maybe gay/bi-sexual, as my friends insist) and his excuses are lame.
There are even parents have left their spouses and children for same gender lovers. On the other hand, some remain married and either have an “open relationship” in which each spouse can date others if they wish (as they said about Bill and Hillary Clinton) or cheat on the other spouse (whether it’s with the same or opposite sex). So, SRK, don’t hide behind your innocent little kids and use them as cover. It’s a matter of “yes, I am” or “no, I’m not”. And if you are not, then you are faced with another hard question. Since any straight man in his right mind would not be comfortable being smothered by a gay man, how did you manage to have him next to you almost everywhere you go (be it award ceremonies, film shootings, picking your wardrobe for you [it used to be Gauri who picked your clothes], give a talk about you as if he’s your publicist, etc) And if you manage to come up with an honest and intelligent response to those questions (other than the stupid explanation “Karan is more like my wife’s friend than mine”), then you have to accept that the closeness between you and Karan Johar is a tad bit excessive and you didn’t know how to draw boundaries or did it to benefit your professional career. Then you acquaint youself to the idea of healthy distance that two people of same sex should have. Until then, please “save it” with your chatters of “people think I’m gay”. We don’t think you’re gay for the hell of it. You and Karan are telling us you are gay. The Bollywood Gay club is becoming more publicized, and it will be a matter of time before someone catches you on camera. The private parties in which you were allegedly making out with Karan, the yours and Mrs. Ambani birthday party in which you danced with Karan…what do you think? Somebody wasn’t going to squeel on you? I don’t think you realize or give a damn that your “straight” fans are teased for admiring a closeted guy who pretends to be straight. You represent this clean image of wholeness and romance of olden days when in person you are quite the opposite. And two things hold you back from coming out: the Indian society and your female fans. Because without their continual patronage of your films, the expansion of your production houses and other businesses will eat dust. Until you’re sufficiently okay with your position and Karan slowly clues the news of the two of you with the Indian masses, we’ll never officially know.
Don’t undermine the intelligence of other people. Not everyone in the masses eat up everything that comes out of your mouth (no pun intended). Meaning, when you said that as a child, you used to love imitating Mumtaz, yes, that is usually an indication of someone who is conflicted about their sexuality. And when Karan asked Anil Kapoor @ IIFA Dubai that “if a Bollywood producer decides to remake Brokeback Mountain, who should he cast as actors?” that was not a random question by the shameless Johar who is a well known gay man who now wears a wedding band on his left hand. First of all, who else lacks social/personal inhibitions enough to ask such a question on a televised event in a hall packed with significant people, or produce such a film except himself and possibly you, SRK? Perhaps a joing production? Second, when Anil Kapoor answered that question with “Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan”, the fact that both of you laughed. I am not sure if Gauri was laughing or crying. Maybe both. What about her family, what are they thinking? They haven’t crossed to the underworld like yours, have they? If they are still alive, someone is certainly bothered by this.
So, SRK, you’ll find out that money isn’t everything. And your fame is no different than that of the Roman empire:grand and full of spectacles…and doomed to fail with time. It’s called the golden rule of law of gravity. You reach the pinnacle and then begin your descent.
And you’ll find out that Karan Johar isn’t God. He cannot save you from falling from the public grace.

Ok, I don’t know about the whole gay thing and the competion between Aamir khan and SRK. However, I have to admit that you are right about the whole circle of wealthy friends poking fun, and telling cheap jokes about each other. I’m not indian, but anything that is related to TV fascinate me. It is the best way to become acquainted with another culture after all, and I love bollywood. It might be tacky at times, but once you know what to expect out of bollywood, you’ll start to enjoy it. Although, I’ve noticed that it’s a “who-knows-who or who’s-your-parents” type of industry, with few exceptions of course, but it remains true nonetheless. I really like your blog my friend it might grate on some people nerves, but I find it witty and humoristic. You made my day!

you are a sick guy. srk is straight and honest to his wife. do you think after all these rumours gauri had accepted it. go get some life.
srk may not be the best actor in town but definitely a great human being among all the actors today in bollywood. i never heard his affairs or i never found him in any controversies.
aamir khan is only a good actor and might be a perfectionist. but personally he keeps cheating his partners…he ditched his wife many times and finally for a young girl kiran rao (i dont know the fate of kiran also)
and he has a illegitimate child too…JOHN something…

TZP is a great movie…but aamir does not relate to it…in personal life. SRK is not only the king of bollywood but also very dignified, down to earth and sensible person.

so is he Gay or NOT lol!.. am an arab and a big fan of all the Khan’s ! be it sharukh, amir, salman or saif! i have been watching kwk for quite sometime and it is a fun show!.. i don’t know who rakhi sawant is but she was so much fun to watch on kwk. hehe..
I don’t know much about bollywooders , but hey am a big fan of hindi movies… so who cares who’s gay, or who’s screwing who!
We care about the end result a Great , entertaining indian movie. Life is too stressful atleast a bollywood movie takes away abit of that stress. So thumbs Up to Bollywood

if shahrukh is bisexual he certainly is smart enough and diplomatic enough and savy enough about the Inidan public and the press to not ever admit it.I think that he and karan and their teams decided that the best way to deal with all those rumors and talk about him being bisexual (he wouldn’t be gayu as he does have children which you can see are clearly his) it is best to take the bull by the horns and so they do all these gay jokes at filmfare and other places to distract people who then think that ‘oh, he can’t be bisexual because he makes all thes gay jokes’ and karan makes outragerous statements to the press like the one he did when he said ’srk has two wives’ and he said he was the second wife as a joke. Turn it all around and make it into a JOKE a joke that you make on yourselves because its just so absurd right? That’s onw way of handling it and it seems to be working as karan is still with him most of the time like right beside him and the wive in Paris a week ago but people now don’t even mention it much anymore cause after all they joke about gay stuff so they can’t be right? Shahrukh seems more involved with arjun rampal recemtly anyway and you can’t blame him cause arjun is lots more sexy and manly than karan and more of shahrukh type i would think.as for the wife gauri she looks like one of those wax figures shahrukh keeps visiting in europe. give her a life of total leasure and endless money and she keeps her mouth shut about whatever it seems why rock the boat and jeperdise what is clearly a great thing she’s got going.she makes a good beard for shahrukh who knows what she will say once he’s not alive anymore but meanwhile the bread is buttered and she wants to keep it as it keeps her in botox for her facial cheeks which are so tight you can bounce coins off them.

There have always been rumors about Shahrukh and Karan since they became friends, and now the gossip factory proceeds to talk about Shahrukh and Arjun Rampal.
Have you ever considered that they are most likely just good friends? Why are so many people alleging SRK of having affairs with his friends?
Are straight men not able to have close friendships with other men, or what???
And why does no one assume an affair between Shahrukh and Juhi, for example? SRK is much closer to her than to any other of his friends.
Well, I don’t know wether SRK is bisexual or hetero. No one knows it, except of himself. But I’m convinced that he is not gay. It is well known that he was obsessively in love with Gauri in the first years of their relationship. Gauri said in an interview that she could treat him like a slave back then. He would have died for her. Even after 24 years they still seem very happy with each other.
It’s also obvious that he enjoys to flirt with women. And sometimes, when I watch interviews or shows with him and Kajol, I can’t escape the feeling that he’s seriously attracted to her.
But even if he is bisexual, and attracted to men as well as to women, he still can be happy, devoted and faithful to his wife. It is not implying at all that he is cheating her with other men (or women).

I found this web site when I did a search online for Shah Rukh Khan and Arjun Rampal and gay which I was looking for because of some photos I was emailed today. My cousin send me these photos from a stage show they did in Amsterdam. One showed Khan holding Rampals hand and Rampal was looking very “pretty”. The other showed Khan kneeing in front of Rampal and kissing his hand! My cousin pointed out that these photos were not from a movie but from real life so it was not somthing from a script. And they were photos not just something someone wrote.
I read the comments here and people say someone can’t be gay or have sex with men if you have children which both Khan and Rampal do. They also mention the movie Brokeback Mountain here which in that movie both of those men were married with children. As homosexuality is against the law in India and these men depend upon the public also to make a living it would not be something they would ever confess to if true. They did look sweet holding hands, LOL.
