I saw Daredevil today. Found it to be one of the worst superhero movies I have ever seen. Even worse than many of the Batman movies featuring Val Kilmer and George Clooney. The cast was a total miscast. Ben Affleck as the blind superhero was hardly digestible, but the rest of the cast was absolutely pathetic. Elektra was stupid, so was Bullseye and of course Michael Clarke Duncan was absolutely horrible as The Kingpin.
Looks like, Spiderman has raised the expectation levels to something unachievable. And we have more superhero movies to look forward too. Batman is going to have a new release, so will Superman. It would be great to compare them with Spiderman…
On the other hand, I had this weird thing banging inside my head. We have so many advertisements featuring so many celebrities. Are they accountable to the claims they make on television? Sachin ENDulkar, Shah Rukh Khan, and Hrithik Roshan got away with the huge Home Trade scam. But they continue to advertise products which I seriously doubt they themselves use on a daily basis. Shah Rukh claims that we should not worry about the guarantee of LML Freedom because vo hain naa so I believe next time the showroom guys fail to fix an LML bike, the rider should consider driving to Shah Rukh’s place for an appointment? Similar cases can be found for all the superstars coming on television.
Can the advertisement showing them making false claims about a certain product admissible in court as evidence against them? I am not sure.

You know what? As bad as Daredevil was, I really wanted to like the movie. I couldn’t… but I wanted to. This is because it is one of the most honest translations from the comic book. It is slow, and boring in parts, and I agree there are a lot of faults in the narration, but it is still very very honest. I t was written and directed by people who really liked DD. It was Dark, sinsiter, well cast in most places, and atmospheric as hell.
Problem is, they couldn’t make a tighter, more entertaining movie. While Raimi made a fun 2 movies withut strictly sticking to the mythos. Go figure.
By the way, the worst comic book movie happens to be the punisher(the new one with Tom Jane). Ever. EVER.
