Corrupting Star World with Crap: Koffee with Karan
Well. Let me clarify something. I have nothing against Karan Johar or any other individual. Everything written here is personal opinion and nothing is aimed to defame anyone.
I am not sure but initial reports showed the new talk show on Star Network to be hosted by Karan Johar was going to be telecasted on Star Plus. But it will appear on Star World instead and that makes me sad. My personal television set does not have Star Plus tuned for some very specific reasons. Star World already has trash in the form of Rendezvous by Simi Grewal; I really could have done without another Indian produced junk.
Why cannot we have more of the great comic series from US and Britain? Coupling & The Office are excellent. Two more are scheduled for this month. It seems I cannot just have enough!

the show is amazing..even i love the english shows on star world but that doesnt mean i have to hate indian shows..koffee with karan is funny and about indian movies..if your so in love with all stuff phoren then why dont you just live in phoren land..be proud of your country and the strides made in television production thanks to star..and i agree simi is a fake white person!!koffee with karan rules!!!!

Well i think the koffee with karan show really gives the viewers an insight into the glam and gossip of bollywood and it is more about “inter bollywood relationships” rather than bollywood personalities………the previous episodes one for example which featured Fardeen Khan and Zayed Khan give us an idea about the level of camaraderie between Karan and his guests for which i really do think the show should be called “Beer with Karan”!!!!!!!!

I agree with Sushubh that KwK sucks big time.
I don’t agree that Indian shows should NOT be on Star World - I think Vir Sanghvi’s show was terrific and brought out the best in his guests.
I’m amused that Priya thinks that Karan is not gay - what makes you so sure Priya?

Wow, this blog is so interesting!
I’ve been watching KwK regularly too and I think it does bring out a side of Bollywood stars we havent seen. Surely, those of u who criticise it, will agree that this show is more comfortable on Kwk, than say Simi’s one. The stars seem quite stiff on that!
But yeah, I do agree with Abhsihek Vij that Karan does seem to show ‘that look everyone, I knw these stars and u dont! I talk with them on the phone and u dont!’ Well, all I can say to that is ‘So, Wht?!’ We’ve got better things to do, u knw?!
And, oh yes, Sushubh, thanx for coming up with this idea for a blog; its great u enjoy US and Brit sitcoms, but u shouldnt denounce Indian tv programming like that. I knw it does have it faults and some serious constructive critcism is needed, but its not all that bad. I watch Indian programmes/films regularly with my daily does of British comedies too, and so do heaps of Londoners like myself.
Wht would quality Indian programming be, in ur opinion? This goes to the rest of u bloggers too?

Thank god someone else feels the same way I do. Watching Koffee with Karan honestly makes my skin crawl with shame (because I’m Indian and sometimes believe that our shows can be as good as the best in the West). It’s so.. so stupid and fake — and no one seems to notice! Feel bad watching a bunch of people making fools of themselves — and they probably think they’re being very cool, which makes it worse.
It’s not that Indian shows in general are bad — just that KwK is just stupid, stupid, stupid. And you’re right — should be kicked off Star World. Watching it after a “real” chat-show.. really depressing.

Kofee with Karan is about the worst interview or chat show I have ever seen. I feel I can say this withour any type of bias only because I am Indian. Having watched enough Indian show growing up well into my adulthood I mean no maice in stating simply facts.
The only reason Karan Johar even has a show is because of who his family is. The old saying of it’s not what you know but who you know holds true with Mr. Johar. He is a talentless hack with a lot of money to back him therefore he can produce any gargage he wishes and pass it off as art, or in his case Television/film. He has no idea how to interview people. With all his money, why doesn’t he go to a prober journalism school and learn what real journalism or even proper television producining, or interviewing is all about. The guys a jerk and makes his guest feel very small with his sill question on his rapide fire e.g. who is sexier John or Vivik. Everyone knows the answer did he have to embarass Vivek that way. Kofee with Karan is about the worst interview or chat show I have ever seen. I feel I can say this withour any type of bias only because I am Indian. Having watched enough Indian show growing up well into my adulthood I mean no maice in stating simply facts.
The only reason Karan Johar even has a show is because of who his family is. The old saying of it’s not what you know but who you know holds true with Mr. Johar. He is a talentless hack with a lot of money to back him therefore he can produce any gargage he wishes and pass it off as art, or in his case Television/film. He has no idea how to interview people. Wow, I had no idea so many people in India were against KWK. PLease include me on that list of KWK dislikers. I have a problem with that show because his show was nothing but a mutual admiration club. He never asks anyoe the tough questions that he could. The coffee as getting too sweet for my liking.
Also Karan should have never made a movie on a serious subject like KANK. It is almost idiotic the way he handled that subject.
