When you move to a new town, you face various kinds of problems. I have had my share of problems (net connection, finding out places to hang out and eat and stuff like that) but this one sucks. I have a 5 year old Splendor which is serving me well. But the problem with this much old bike is that it needs these teeny tiny repair jobs. Kind of which they do not like to do in service centers. And finding a decent bike mechanic is a pain in the ass itself.
I have moved from Karnal to Gurgaon to Panipat to Faridabad to Delhi to Faridabad to Panchkula after I had bought this bike. And everywhere it took me a while to find a decent bike guy to keep my bike in shape. But here in Panchkula, I am still looking for one. And because of some bad mean road side puncture wallas, in 10 months of living here… while I just drove the bike for 800 km… the expenses on bike punctures and tire-tube replacements have overtaken my fuel expenses. Spooky…
And to top it off, I just had a narrow escape when I found out on time that the bike mechanic forgot to tighten the breaks he loosened to get the tire out of the bike’s setup to change yet another tube. I hope something else is not missing on the bike.
