Indian Highways

Warning: Badly written post ahead!

I just came back from a trip to home. This time I drove all the way to Chandigarh in my car. However, it was not totally fun driving that far considering the highways no matter how good they are now, there are still plenty of challenges to face on the way.

The problems were not related to traffic as I found the truck drivers to be very nice at allowing faster vehicles to overtake. The problem was more related to the cement blocks, which forms the divider between the two lanes. At several locations, I found these cement blocks lying right on the road besides the divider all set to cause a massive accident.

At other places, I found the hoardings (originally placed to instruct the drivers that some construction is going on) lying on the road itself where the cars are zooming at speeds upwards of 100kmph.

I just about managed to save myself from hitting some of these obstructions on my way to and back from Chandigarh.

I just hate it when I am following a speeding car/truck driving at my pace (without any interest in overtaking) just to see that the vehicle ahead takes a sharp cut to prevent itself from hitting one of these obstructions and in the end manages to give me some scary moments.

In fact, I also hated it when the car ahead move aside to let me overtake when I simply prefer to stay behind them to let them clear my way of the traffic ahead… ;)
