Am I alone who thinks that Aurko is a total rip-off of the awesome Euphoria band? They dress like them, sing like them and hell even the videos are so totally ripped off!
Hell, even the website color theme is same.

MUSIC REVIEWS : Nadiyan - Aurko
By Rajiv Vijayakar
No i completely Disagree , Indian Folk has been re discovered by Aurko … and Their ballads - Puchhe Ye Dil Se and Yadein is just mind blowing …
I have bought Aurko’s CD like many others and proud to have it in my system ..Have been watching Aurko in bangalore for th last 5 years .. they really rock on stage .. ask any bangalorean ..
so what if Euphoria has 3 folk songs in their last 10 years career , so what even the lead singers are bong too like palash . So what they dare to dress Kurtas like many other fellow indians …..Listen to the album anduwill realise their vocals are far more powerful and the whole album has 6 mindblowing comps which touched me …
Urge you to buy their CD and listen on a car deck … U will have different opinion about them all together… i feel thy will touch whole india with their melody power….They are new but they are here to stay …
Here’s what indian express has to say about Aurko
The album’s clean and uncluttered sound makes it stand out amidst the pop stuff that comes out in unceasing droves.
The exemplary mixing and mastering makes the vocals stand out, and that combined with the strong and largely folk-based melodies and meaningful lyrics add to the value. Supratik and Souvik are punchy vocalists and help make this one of the better albums in this genre.

well i am not even talking about their songs. it’s the way they picturise them. and that totally mimics euphoria.
i saw a video and all i could think off was how much they try to resemble the euphoria band. maybe listening to songs would be somewhat different.
i even find the singer who sang a song in the movie gangster sound like indian ocean.

I must say that Aurko rocks .The blend of bhatiyali and indipop is simply heartwarming. This blend was missing.I am simply crazy about Aurko ….guys please accept that they are are really talented …
listen to their CD don go by what they wear … its nothing but our very indian attire and not YO … Wearing kurta has nothing to do with Euphorea … then what about their wearing banyan … lux ad - sunny deol copy … get real and try and appreciate music thats what will be the differentiator in long run .. both Euphorea and Indian ocean was promoting desi stuff and Aurko and their melody is really a fresh wind in the band music scene ..
am waitin to get a taste of more of Aurko’s music … these guys are great.if i happen to meet them one day in concerts then i guess i wud feel dreams really do come true

response to Sushubh’s comment: “but the way you present yourself says a lot about you”!!!!
guys like you are responsible for killing the music and promoting the visuals… forget aurko’s originalism (which they have truck loads of), passive listeners like you have to infuse some originality in your thought process and understand that a video is a small vehicle to promote a song, the end is the melody itself which aurko is a master in (and euphoria is not).
even forgetting the fact that aurko’s video is actually a great one and SCARCELY resembles euphoria’s, you have to still go back to their work as musicians and composers that separates them from any band in this country.
so my request to ‘music (video) lovers’ like you is to allow your brain to linger more on the song rather than the visual… you would be doing a great favour to the music industry as a whole; do not promote MTV, promote times music instead for that is where real artistes come out of!!
lastly get a copy of aurko’s cd and if you are not convinced with nadia, listen to poochhe yeh dil se, raat ke kohre mein and so on… your questions will be answered rightaway….
cheers!

‘DEAREST’ SUSHUBH,
I think to dismiss a band that is fresh and original in its own way by saying they’re a mere imitation of Euphoria is rubbish. I feel that every artist, every creator is inspired from a source, which leads him to unleash his/her creative aspect, and only supports itself as a springboard to creativity. Aurko is a band on its own, and the music they have created is absolute blending of melody and folk. It is unfair to compare them to Euphoria. I feel the one’s who are comparing them to Euphoria may be diehard fans of the band, who out of insecurity are sidelining Aurko. I suggest those who comment merely by glimpsing at the video or heard the song with the lingering thoughts of uncertainty should just go with the flow, and listen to what a beautiful, melodious compositions they have produced. Cheers Aurko! You guys ROCK!

so dear sushubh, sameera and varun… enough said to eat your words now… hope the digestion is complete and you won’t venture near a mike on this topic… euphoria is euphoria and AURKO is AURKO, and the twain shall never meet!!!
guys let us all sign off on this note…

i don’t like their music. i don’t like the way they dress up like the euphoria guys. and i don’t like the way their videos mimic the videos of euphoria.

Hi ambunath,
Your name itself is sounding funny, so u must be a very funny person.
I think you have some problem in your ears, better go to doctor.
After a long time I’m hearing that kind of good voice, and you are telling bad vocals? Do u have any personal problem with them? If it is, pls keep a side, but don’t make such comment. Otherwise it will prove, u don’t have any sence of music.
sorry to hurt u. but no option….Because I usally don’t make such a comment and don’t think i’m a diehard fan of aurko. But i like good music and always want to appriciate that.
Go ahead aurko. Time will say what u are.

Hi arya,
your name sounds funny as well, are you the leader of arya samajis by the way or are you the flop film aryan minus the n, occasionally involved in singing (mostly in the toilet to avoid paying attention to the bad smell) the following song from the movie aryan the unbreakable - ek look ek look pyar waali sajana sau tenu rab diya ek waari tak na.
as far as going to the doctor is concerned, sorry i could not go today they are all protesting against that caste reservation thing.
about the music and the singer’s voice all i wud recommend is you and aurko probably need to work with arjun singh to make sure it becomes mandatory for every music lover to buy 50% of their music collection from bands/singers who are overaged, haggard looking creatures and occasionally utter words like zoom zoom zoom. In such a scenario the album may do well.
by the way, a google search on ambunath brings up my post as the first search result, why is that?
have a great day,
ambunath.

hi ambu,
Thanks for your nice reply. Your mail says what kind of person u are. so better don’t argue with such a person who is not normal.
If you can, try to sing one of their song or humm. I think u have some problem with bengalies, am i right? kabhi kata tha kya?
From which angle they were looking ugly i don’t know, may be they are very simple, they didn’t put much make up like ur girl friend. But It is not at all right that they are bad looking. I think u are a very handu looking guy,no ?
have a gr8 night. Don’t dream of aurko…

Hi Ambu,
U have criticised the band Aurko by using the term “over aged ugly looking bengalis from kolkata” .. is this the way to criticise a music band? First of all we should not forget that we are INDIANS. That is our first identity.. why such communalism? Do you know why Indians are described as Crabs?? Due to this uncivilised mentality of few Indians like you, people are better described as Indian crabs who always pulls from back their own people to restrict their further movement who want to go ahead with good intention.
Perhaps you dont know that Since inception both Bollywood music industry and film industry was, is and will be ruled by these sort of ugly looking Bengalis
Secondly.. the AURKO BAND people are not at all ugly looking… but since u have criticised.. i must say that it is a music video and not “Mr. Good Looks” Contest.. this is another example of an uncivilised attitude.. I dont know how good u look but do u have any credit towards your look ?????
WHat do u mean by over aged????? Do you have all musicians birth certificate… ?? Perhaps you will keep an age bar in your music Company..
Healthy and relevant criticism always inspires people but not the way you have done… this shows that you have some personal grudge with the band….
After reading your negative comments my attraction towards their song zooms out more….. Bought the Nadiya CD from Music World… other songs are just rocking and mind blowing…
GO AHEAD AURKO..
May 17th, 2006 at 01:08 pm
umm. dudes. please. stop. or else i would have to disable comments altogether. please fight somewhere else!
May 17th, 2006 at 01:44 pm
hmmm.. these aurko guys seem to have developed quite a bit of fan following already!! well i think they deserve it…
let me throw the cat amongst pigeons… palash, please get your agent ambunath out of civilised chat rooms… heard ‘mehfuz’, couldn’t bear to listen even half the title track… euphoria tradionally makes one good song per album (!!!) hence the cd was best left waiting for the guillotine on the listening port.. hope they replace it with african tribal music….
DON’T BUY MEHFUZ GUYS…. PLS PLEEEESE!
Let us not bring aurko here guys, they seem to be pretty honest… at least wearing baniyans and jumping like frogs on stage doesn’t seem to be their mantra as sushubh and ambunath’s ‘fav’ band euphoria’s seems to be!! saw a concert on V with rahat fateh ali khan jamming with euphoria… i thought as an indian my head was put to shame… that is how bad euphoria’s vocals are… yes one thing palash did quite well, by the time the song finished he had taken 15 rounds of the plump rahat and jumped 150 times… with the other puppets in his band smiling at his unique achievement!!
vocals? did someone mention aurko… check out their album to understand what good vocals are all about… if you still can’t understand, curse god for making you brain dead…
again pls do not compare a ‘just born’ band with a 15 yr old, euphoria is too experienced… and too bad!!
sushubh, i think enough has been said… for a non-starter of a discussion a lot of bad blood has been smelt for something like music which is supposed to bring people together!

ambunath,
too much. are u sending feedback regarding music? Idon’t think so, u r very dirty minded person. instead of talking about music u r more intereseted in those dirty words, I think u have some big problem with ur family. At least try to respect your mother first.

Hi,
I am shalini. Last Saturday i went to opus with my friends, opus is one of my favorite places, I usually go there. There i saw aurko’s performance for the first time. It was mind-blowing; we just overwhelmed to see their live performance. I must say these guys will rock the whole country one day. They are very talented, their vocals are very much powerful, and their song selections are owsam, gr8 presentation.
Next day i visit their website to get a complete idea. to day i bought their cd, their cd is playing on my computer just now, nice tune, good arrangement. Actually their voice has leaded me to this site, where i found so many are fighting each other because of them. Good to know that they are already became popular. They deserve it.
My last comment on this band that “They will stay for long. Their music will grow in you slowly. After a long time such a melodious band.”
aurko u r gr8. No second thought.
pls do let me know when is your next show.
May 18th, 2006 at 05:08 am
i love aurko, i bought the CD and i think they are one of the best bands that i have seen in recent times. last 2 days i dont know what happened to me, why i suddenly started talking against aurko and arya’s mommy. i am okay now, i love aurko. their vocals are very good as well.
May 18th, 2006 at 05:30 am
I agree, In fact they should get the grammy for
Best Vocal Arrangement for Two or More Voices category.
May 18th, 2006 at 05:34 am
so aurko fan boys have decided to make this page their shrine?
May 18th, 2006 at 07:32 am
and you have been the mason for this very sturdy building of this shrine!! way to go dude!
May 18th, 2006 at 09:50 am
Sushubh
Talking good about someone does not imply that we r building a shrine, rather we are music lovers and we appreciate good music be it Euphoria or be it Aurko.
Aurko is Aurko.
Think …… healthy ….
May 18th, 2006 at 09:59 am
its 8:30 pm in the night, i still believe aurko is superb. i think i am cured of the disease, i am feeling good.
May 18th, 2006 at 10:57 am

too much. are u sending feedback regarding music?

Sushubh
Talking good about someone does not imply that we r building a shrine, rather we are music lovers and we appreciate good music be it Euphoria or be it Aurko.
Aurko is Aurko.

Aurko is a great band .. I had followed them on at least 8 of their live performances in Bangalore and the music the play is just awesome. Their music is very original and people who had heard the CD would know the variety in their songs move across all folks Punjabi to Assamees to Bengali to modern songs. People who had been in Bangalore would confirm the amazing voice and energy levels of the lead singers and the sync within the band. And in the time to come as they start moving across the country with their music I am sure the country will start loving them. Aurko you rock !!

What ever you guys say … or do … or think about AURKO … let me pass this news to you … AURKO was in Delhi on 27th May … to perform in an event for pepsi organised by DNA … (hope everybody in this forum knows DNA - hey its not De-oxyribo Nucliec Acid dudes
… ) … and these guys rocked … and rocked … and rocked …
These are the shows which would make the impression of the band in the people’s mind … and not to mention about the ample coverage the media is given them … did any of you see their STAR NEWS intervies - a prime news channel covered them for 30 mins … guys, media are not fools … they cover things which has gravity and depth as far as talent is concerned …
Cheers

Guys…they suck…Dont compare them with Euphoria…
I have watched them live in Koramangla last yr…They say they r a bunch of youngsters…they r a cricket team of old haggards…
Not discouraging them…But i think their music is pretty Outdated…we love kishoredadas songs…but sing them in the way the songs r…
I did not buy the cd but i heard their songs in a frens pc…I liked one song..sm humming…yadein.Nadia is awefully bad…so is the video…
Euphorias new one isnt good 2…but their old songs r gems…and replacing them would be difficult…
All the best orko.

Mr. Kumar … ofcourse you have the right to air your views … but as u said u love Kishor da’s songs … and at the same time u said Aurko’s songs are out dated … and Aurko sings a lot of Kishor da’s songs too … aren’t you contradicting yourself?
And if old songs were expected to be sung in the same way they were recorded earlier, the remixes that are hugely popular today wouldn’t have survived. Though AURKO doesn’t sing remixes, yet, they sing those Kishor da numbers in absolute harmony and the evergreen Pancham da numbers in the same energy. And can such songs ever become outdated?
Talking about a cricket team of old haggards … well, isn’t being young a state of mind now-a-days? By the way, the average age of the band members will not surpass 25 yrs I guess … And please know that all songs that you see AURKO playing are played LIVE on the stage … unlike most of the top Bollywood singers and some of these present Singing sensations that talent hunt contests have produced … who does it on -1 track and in some case +1 (lip sync) tracks also … Haven’t you seen AURKO’s energy levels while doing a > 2 hour show in Koramangala? And let me tell you … during Durga Puja they are booked everyday … even doing 2 shows per day … so do not judge a band who plays every instrument LIVE just from one show … if you know basics about stage shows, you would also know that a stage show is not only about singing good and playing correct … its about the Sound System … the mixing of the sound by the Engineer … the hall where the show is being held … technical problems in this can render wonderful talent into total dissonance
However, I do appreciate your signing line of wishing them all the best … that brings to the fore that maybe you are just trying to be critical of their music … fair enough … but there is a way of posting critical comments … if you think they have the talent and the zeal to out-do their own best performances every single time, then I am sure your constructive criticisms (if you put it that way) … will also give them food for thought. And that includes the things that you didn’t like about their video Nadiyaa … offer them your valued suggestions … atleast even if some of them can be implemented …. it will be a good contribution for their next video … as we all are promoting and supporting Indian music right?
Cheers

aurko’s lead singer - cant remember his name, looks like the “asura” in the durga puja. you guys agree?
May 29th, 2006 at 05:38 am
Ambunath,
You remind me of riding through an industrial area where suddenly you get this abominable stench which is repugnant and to top it all, lingers in your nostrils for rest of the day …
Either you have just escaped from a mental asylum or shortly heading towards one … when I read through this column, I thought we are matured individuals discussing critically about talent and not about individuals looks …
But I guess people like you would be around … and we have to bear it …
Btw, in your bid to look fashionable, were you wearing dark glasses during their show? If yes, then we know why you think like that.
In any case, I think both their lead singers are sweet … and cute ofcourse.
And even if any of them look like an asura … in any case, we have enough of them in this part of the country … it wouldn’t matter … because I and many of my friends find their voices fabulous.
Cheers
May 29th, 2006 at 07:23 am
when did i say aurko’s singers are not good? they are very good, one of the best in the country, i am proud of both the singers, great voice, great video and decent looks as well. sorry about the confusion.
May 29th, 2006 at 08:09 am
Ambu,
Someone should take classes from you on ‘double standards” … u change colour faster than a chameleon … I am perplexed as to how you manage to do that?
Good you mentioned about decent looks … atleast its a far cry from comparing them with asuras … in any case we are not discussing fashion and looks here …
And appreciate that you have regard for their voices … lets appreciate talent … after all, not all of us can croon like they do … and given the Indian audience, even if you can make 10% of the people dance to your music, I feel thats a milestone achieved.
And when AURKO performs, music lovers will not be able to resist themselves from dancing … and those who do, observe their feet … they sure wd be tapping …
I hope somebody from Aurko sees this
Cheers

i actually heard all the tracks as well, they are pretty ordinary. i dont want to sound very negative or anything , but in general all the tracks are very average just like any other nondescript band out there. recording etc. not very professional either, best of luck to the band what can i say. by the way some songs are better than nadiyaa dont know what sense prevailed when the band chose nadiyaa as their promo song over the others.

only songs which are selling these days is himesh reshammiya like it or not, bottomline is his songs are popular and sales are good. as far as other indipop albums are concerned, no one cares about what aurko has to offer.

only songs which are selling these days is himesh reshammiya like it or not, bottomline is his songs are popular and sales are good. as far as other indipop albums are concerned, no one cares about what aurko has to offer.

You are right Triveni … no one cares what Aurko has to offer … thats why their album has come under the banner of Times Music … and I’m sure you will say now that one of the biggest brand in India … ‘Times’ are headed by dumb people who has invested foolishly on a nondescript band?
Some one should take lessons from you on cynicism … tsk tsk !!!
Cheers to all AURKO fans … and AURKO (in case any of you are checking this blog) … don’t get daunted with such demeanour … this is India and this is just your beginning … so when somebody wants to climb the ladder, there will be a 1000 others to pull you down … but amidst all, you have fans like us who will encourage you … for that matter encourage any form of Indian music … so keep going …
Cheers

These days anyone who has a grandmother can launch a music album even with Times Music - that does not guarantee success or anything neither does it mean the band or the musician is good enough. Times does not have to invest in anything, it is the musicians who have to invest. Times will just take the music and print some CD copies thats about it. So Times does not care. For your kind reference here are the super flop bands and musicians Times has invested in the past, Aurko is no different.
Look at these artistes with Times music CD release:
Ashok Mastie - http://store.indiatimes.com/timesmusic/TimesMus...
Varsha - http://store.indiatimes.com/timesmusic/TimesMus...

Sachin - http://store.indiatimes.com/timesmusic/TimesMus...
Gunjit Singh - http://store.indiatimes.com/timesmusic/TimesMus...
